About our Veterinary Staff....

Pug

Our primary veterinarian (and owner) is Jeffrey L. Rhody, DVM.  Dr. Rhody hails originally from Baltimore.  After graduating from the University of Maryland, he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (cum laude) from the Ohio State University College in 1983.  He gained early career experience working as an associate veterinarian in Frederick and as a veterinary manager in Brooklyn Park before deciding to open the Lakeside Veterinary Center in 1988.

On occasions when Dr. Rhody is unavailable for appointments, we offer the services of either Dr. Laura Martin or Dr. Tracy Duvernoy.  Both of these women are fine veterinarians and allow for the continued excellence in care we strive to provide.

About our Medical Philosophy....

Dr. Rhody practices what is best termed "diagnosis-based medicine".  This means he tries to form a diagnosis prior to treating an illness.  For example, a dog who is vomiting could have as many as 100 different things causing the vomiting--- from a virus to a tumor.  The answers you provide to our questions, combined with the findings of our physical examination will narrow that list and help us guide you to the next step. It may be indicated to get a blood count, an x-ray or even check liver or kidney function. We will recommend the best couse of action and explain the costs involved.  Although no one wants their budget to dictate what course of tests or treatment their pet will receive, the fact is that laboratory tests and x-rays can be expensive.  If you are unable to follow the ideal medical pathway, we will work with you to find an acceptable path to take. No matter what path we follow, the medical care of your pet is a team effort: our advice and care are guided by your input and ability to care for your pet at home.  Together we will work toward the best result possible.

Our Promise to Our Clients...

We promise to treat your pets as we would treat our own--- with loving care and respect.  We will do so while providing the highest quality medical, surgical, and/or dental options available.

We promise to show you the utmost in courtesy and respect.  We will strive to provide you with an unparalleled level of service, honoring both your time and your emotional bond to your pet.
