SubQ. fluids
Any dog or cat with a condition that would benefit from the supplementation of fluids. Subcutaneous fluid administration is used most commonly for cats with chronic renal failure.
Dogs and cats with certain disorders are benefited by fluid supplementation at home. If the animal is not drinking adequately, the best way to accomplish fluid supplementation is a procedure called subcutaneous fluid administration. A veterinarian typically will teach an owner how to perform this task and prescribe the amount and frequency of administration.
