Neutering, Canine - contd.

Indications
Any intact or unneutered male dog should be considered for neutering in order to prevent unwanted litters of puppies. In addition, the surgery is effective in modifying undesirable behaviors. There are many medical conditions that require neutering as part of the treatment. Some examples include testicular neoplasia; severe testicular or scrotal trauma; benign prostatic hyperplasia or testosterone-induced prostatic enlargement; and perianal adenoma, or growths around the anus stimulated by testosterone.
