The prognosis is dependent on the individual horse's clinical signs, history, and response to treatment and management strategies. Horses with long-standing breathing difficulties, severe clinical signs, advanced age, and reduced function may have a poor prognosis. If the clinical signs can be controlled through managing the environment or through medications, the horse will have a better prognosis.
